Belle

Today is Belle’s 4th year of freedom from the mill. This
little girl has changed so much in those 4 years and she is
still changing and amazing me. She is the light of my life
and I can't imagine my life without her in it. I look into
those big brown eyes of hers, my heart melts, and I can't
refuse her nothing. Today we will be having frosty paws to
celebrate, she is 6-7 years old.

She is the Queen boss of the household and lets everyone
know it; she makes sure that Coty Bear behaves himself and
if he doesn't she will give him hell. She tells it just
like it is and wont let anyone, including me get away with
anything. She takes care of all the new dogs that come
here, making sure everyone behaves themselves. She even
tells Happy where to get off when she is being a pain in the
butt. It's so funny to watch.

Belle still isn't much of a lap dog, but she loves to be
petted and she LOVES belly rubs. She does cuddle with me at
night in bed and she has just recently started to let me
hold her like a baby to give her belly rubs, but not for to
long, but I'll take what I can get. At first, if you tried
to get her on her back, she would panic and get a wild look
in her eyes, so it is really wonderful that she is letting
me hold her like a baby, even if it is for only a couple of
minutes. One night recently, I even saw her sleeping in one
of the donut beds on her back with her feet up in the air,
that was a first for her. My friend, Patty, said that she
just couldn't see Belle sleeping on her back because she is
so prim and proper. That's Belle all right, prim and
proper, except if you see her, her butt wiggles non-stop.

She still doesn't play with toys, once in a while she will
pick one up or nudge one with her nose, but give her a
greenie or a bully stick and she is in heaven. This summer,
I took her to obedience school and she was a hit with all
the instructors. Everyone wanted her or one just like her.
When we were doing our heeling walks, she looks up at me
with those big brown eyes, with her ears flapping out, a
smile on her face and would say to me, “Am I doing it right
mom?” I didn't care if she was or not, just as long as she
is having fun and she was.

If anyone is unsure if they should adopt a Puppymill dog,
I’d say do it, you just cant imagine the joy it is watching
these babies change, little steps or big steps, it doesn't
matter, the joy is the same. They worm their way into your
heart like you cant believe and I’ll never regret the day I
brought Belle home.

Thank you again PMR for rescuing Belle and letting me adopt
her. She sends her love, noselicks and lots of butt
wiggles.

I'm attaching 3 pictures of her. The first one above
after I brought her home 4 years ago.

The second one is my
very favorite of her, taken a year or so ago and the third
one below was taken last week.

Happy Birthday Sweet Belle.
