Byron's Story

This is Bryon when he came into rescue in March 2001

This is him after he was cleaned up.

Byron was adopted to a wonderful family in April 2001.  He was loved and adored in his new home and his greyhound siblings.  He was the apple of the eye of his mommy and daddy and all the grandkids that came to visit.

Here he is with his new mom, Pam, and her grandson when he was going home.

We are sad to report that tragedy struck within a few months of going to his new home.  While visiting relatives in Florida, Byron disappeared from the fenced in yard.  There were a few holes that he could have escaped.  But after extensive searches of the neighborhood and ongoing visits to all the shelters, Byron was not located.  Byron, unlike some of the other mill rescues, actually enjoyed the attention of strangers.  Byron was microchipped.  It has been over a year and there has never been a sighting or a report of Byron being found.  So with deep regret we add him to the Rainbow Bridge.

The sad confused little eyes looked out at me from a tangled coat and grabbed my heart from the first minute I saw Byron on the adoption pages. Then when I met him I was instantly in love with the little ball of hair!
Even though he is gone I have never really lost hope that he is living somewhere happily with a Mom who cares almost as much as I do. But just in case I am wrong..... Play safely at the bridge sweet boy and know that your Mommy loves you and will see you again some day.
