Roz becomes LADY
ROZ
The adventure of Wednesday February 6, 2002 |
|
It actually began months before,
but it is all sketchy so the
little that is known before February 6, 2002 is. A beautiful dachshund
puppy was born May 11, 2001 with no one to give her the love she needed.
She found herself with Elaine in Missouri who gave her the first love she
knew (that we know of). Then after months of waiting she hears that her
forever home with all the love and cuddles she can handle is waiting for
her.
My forever Mommy and Bill (some people call him Dan, but family
and friends call him Bill) couldn't wait for me to make the long trip to
my
new home in Northern Nevada, so they drove all the way back to Missouri to
get me. I got to see them for the first time in a Wal Mart parking lot
when
Gail drove me there because Elaine had a family emergency. I guess
everyone
was anxious because both Gail and my Mommy and Bill were very early. My
Bill is known as "Early Worley", but during the adopting of me he is now
known as "Anxious Husband". Anyway Mommy and Bill got to Wal Mart real
early and Mommy even got to do some shopping before Bill drug her out of
the store because it was 45 minutes until Gail was to be there with me. He
didn't know that Gail was going to be early too.
It was love at first sight!!! My Mommy and Bill fell in love with
me as soon as my kennel was uncovered. I was so frightened that I was
shivering and shaking, plus it had snowed the night before and it wasn't
very warm outside my kennel. So while My Bill held me Mommy went back to
their car to get my blanket they brought from Nevada just for me. I began
to feel a little more secure in My Bill's arms and then Mommy held me
while
Bill drove us back to Arkansas where relatives lived and my fur sister was
waiting for me.
LilBit, my fur sister didn't know what to make of me since she has
been an only "child" for 4 years, but I knew I needed to stay in a corner
when I wasn't on a lap to help me feel secure.
That night they bedded me down in my new kennel in the laundry
room for the night, but I had something different in mind. I voiced my
opinion and they figured I was right. I got to sleep in my kennel in the
guest bedroom with them. No one told them to cover my kennel, so I wasn't
real quiet during the night.
We left the next morning to drive to my forever home in Nevada. I had a
great time except when they put a leash on me and took me outside to go
potty. What's "go potty"??? I talked a lot during the night and Mommy
would
talk back, but I don't think we were talking the same subject.
We were all anxious to get home so we only spent one night in
something called a motel. We got home while it was dark, but I knew that
this was going to be a great forever home! Mommy put me in my kennel bed
in
the laundry room and I talked most of the night. The next night they put
my
kennel bed in their bedroom, and I still talked. Mommy would get up and
take me outside, thinking that I was saying I needed to go potty, but I
wasn't saying that.
I did help Mommy use her carpet cleaner again.without me she
wouldn't have needed to refresh her memory so soon.
LilBit is working to getting used to me. She lets me play with the
toys and lay in her nighttime bed during the day. She even lets me share
Mommy and Bill's laps even though she does try to get farther away from me
when we share a lap.
I'm sending a picture of how Mommy took care of me before she
learned to cover my kennel bed. I'm the one under the green blanket and
LilBit is under the pink one.

My Bill caught us at 6:30 in the morning, but
now Mommy gets to sleep a little longer.
Right now while Mommy is doing the typing for me, I am asleep in
her lap having good dreams. But Mommy and Bill want to thank you all for
the hard work and devotion that you wonderful people have put into getting
us together. Mommy had a wonderful time talking to Jennifer in Nebraska
and
Elaine in Missouri. It does take wonderful people to do what you do!!!
Love you all !!!!!!!!!!!

Lady trying out my new bed!. |
Known
in the PMR as Roz, but here at her
forever home as Lady. She is definitely a Lady except when she is trying
to get LilBit, her fur sister to play with her.
I said in my last transmission that I would let her tell you about her
first adventure in our RV. I will preface it with letting you know that
when we picked Roz up in February she didn't know what a leash was and
fought it all the way...now I'll turn it over to Lady...

Hi everyone, I want to let you know that I
really, really love my
freedom!!! I have my Mommy and my Bill wrapped around my
"finger"...okay...my paw. Most of the time all I have to do is paw at
their leg and look at them with my big puppy eyes. But I forget that Mommy
doesn't like me to paw her leg when she doesn't have long pants on, but
she
forgives me right away.
Well, like Mommy said I didn't know what a leash was for last February,
but when we went in our RV for my first time I took to the leash real
good. It might have been because it wasn't a stiff leather kind (like in
February) they bought a new retractable kind for me. They would put it on
me every time it was time to take me out to go potty.
Hip, Hip, Hooray!!! I know what "go potty" means, even "tinkle potty" and
"big potty"!!!
I want to tell you about a scary adventure I had when we were out in the
RV for the first time. We had gone for many fun walks in the California
state park with lots and lots of trees and good smells. But this one time
we had stopped to talk to a ranger and the leash dropped out of Mommy's
hand with a loud crash on the pavement. It scarred me and I ran as fast as
I could toward our RV which was away from Mommy, Bill and my fur sister
LilBit. I don't think I knew where I was running to, just that I was runny
away from this noisy thing that was chasing me. Every time I stopped and
turned around to go to Mommy who was calling me, it turned and followed me
too. Finally Mommy stopped running after me and knelt down and put her
arms out and I ran into them knowing that the noisy thing would leave me
alone once I got in Mommy's arms....and I was right. Mommy said she would
never drop the leash again!!!
While we were on our vacation My Bill came back with a surprise....our own
portable fenced yard. Now we (LilBit and me) can be outside with Mommy and
My Bill but not hooked up to a leash. I would rather be in a lap, but I
might get used to the fenced yard. I have attached a picture of LilBit and
me in our yard. LilBit is playing with a ball and I'm playing with a
"badger" Mommy made for us. It shakes real good, especially when I growl
the same time I'm shaking it.
Mommy says that it is her turn to "talk" so I guess I'll get down off her
lap and look at her with my big puppy eyes until she gets our dinner. I
want to tell you how much better I am when people come to visit, but Mommy
said that will have to wait until next time. I do want to thank everyone
that helped saved me for my forever home.
I'm back. Boy I thought I would never get Lady off, she sure can talk. :-)
I had better close this now because Lady has resorted to pawing my naked
leg since her big puppy eyes didn't work fast enough.
Loves & Hugs to all,
Bill, Barbara, LilBit and Lady
