Lia - Home At Last!
Hi, my name is Lia and I am a six-pound, four-year-old female Pomeranian. I was rescued and fostered by PMR and I am now in my forever home with my very own mom and dad to care for me. I want to extend heartfelt thanks to PMR, all the PMR people and all the foster mommies for helping me not be afraid of humans and learn to trust people again. It was hard, since I came from Missouri and that was a bad, bad place. My PMR mommies treated me really nice and helped me get ready for my forever home. Also, thank you Foster Mom Alyce for my blankie that I came home with. I sleep with it every night. I left for my forever home on July 15, 2006. I was nervous – who are these people and where are they taking me? My mommy kept talking to me real soft and telling me what a good girl I was and how pretty I was. We had to drive for several hours, but mommy and daddy made several stops for me to potty and then I slept on her lap until we arrived at my new home. When we got to my new home, I was very hungry. We were all out in the backyard and she put food out for me. I didn’t want to eat in front of them, so when they weren’t looking, I ate. Wow, she had the same food that my foster mommies had – yum! Well, imagine my surprise when I went into my new home. There were three beds waiting for me: one in the kitchen, one in the living room and a big one in the bedroom and that’s not including the big, big bed that mom and dad sleep in. They even had a bowl of water next to my bed in the bedroom – how did they know I like to take a drink in the middle of the night? I was so tired from the trip that I fell sound asleep. The next day, mom and dad took me to two doggie stores for a halter harness, greenies and other good stuff. I met a lot of strangers, too, but it was all right because they rubbed my head and were very nice to me. I love it when my mommy rubs my head – she does it for such a long time that I fall asleep on her. It’s now six weeks since I came here to my home and I love it. Daddy is home with me during the days and we have a good time, but I can’t wait for mommy to come home. When she gets off from work, we all go outside and play. I love to play chase with mommy and tell her about my day. Mommy bought me smaller tennis balls, because the regular ones were too big for me to grab. They throw the ball and I chase after it. I know I have to pick it up with my mouth, but I don’t have that part quite right, so mommy comes and picks up the ball, throws it and I chase after it again. (Update – Mommy came home with small hard rubber balls. These I like to play with. I chase them and I toss them up in the air with my mouth – yippee!) On weekends, my mom and dad make a point of taking me with them. Sometimes we go to the water and watch the boats go by and then we stop by the hotdog stand. The people there let me sit outside on the patio with mom and dad and I get my own chair. I also get a taste of their hotdog – yum, yum! Mom even bought a carry tote to take me into some stores and nobody minds. It’s really nice and roomy with air vents and I can lay down in it if I want, but usually my head sticks out, because I want to see what’s going on. Anyway, I want to tell all my friends waiting to be adopted to be patient. Your special mommy and daddy is out there. They just haven’t found you yet, but they will. I prayed and prayed and my mommy found me and now I’ll never have to worry ever again. I’m Home, At Last!
