Leandre

Back Home Next

My name is Leandre and I'm a very good boy.  My foster mom tells me this ALL the time.

I'm not 100% house broken, but I'm working at it diligently.  As you can see from my picture with my friends, I like both cats and dogs.  I'm gentle with kids, but they scare me more than adults.  I has taken away from a terrible place with 17 other dogs and kept in a kennel for many months while they made a case against the man who imprisoned us for animal cruelty.  Thankfully they won the case.

Unfortunately, because of the way I was treated by that man, I am a scared little boy.  I have to be chased to be picked up, but once on the couch or bed, I'm very loving.  I'm a morning pup and love to snuggle and play to wake up my foster mom.  I growl and nip (no biting cause I'm gentle), but it is all in fun.

I am not quite ready to go to my forever home because I have a terrible UTI.  I am on my third course of antibiotics (a massive dose twice a day), so hopefully this will kick it and I'll be done with this infection.  My only other health concern is my seborrhea.  I enjoy having my hair very short so it doesn't mat or hold the extra oil my skin produces.

I do have times when I gnaw at my paws and lower back because of the itching, but I don't do that as often if I am bathed and groomed regularly.  I also like the oatmeal spray my foster mom uses in between baths to keep the itching down.  Right now I live in Charlotte, NC with 3 other dogs and 5 cats.  I am not at all the dominant type, so I don't mark or fight.

It is probably a good thing cause the other dogs here are all girls and they like pushing me around!  If you are my forever mom or dad, please be patient while I get well.  I promise I'm worth the wait!!
