Adopt Me features Teddy

Back Home Next

Latest Update. MAY
Teddy is still very skittish with people, so far he is not willing to be touched. He will run away from us, he becomes stiff when picked up and doesn't like it at all. He has been with us in Delaware since the end of March.

He is friendly towards our dogs and plays with them. He still hides, but he is coming nearer to sit by me. He will accept a treat out of my hand.

His recent vet exam showed he is heart worm negative, he will need to be rechecked in about 6 months. He does have hookworms, and is being treated for them, and he also has a yeast infection to both ears which he is under treatment for. His weight is stable at 16 pounds.

Teddy is a very high energy boy who will require a very secure fenced in yard with plenty of running room. He can jump so I do not trust him with a low fence, our fence is 6 foot tall. He is not ready to be leashed trained just yet. He does well with other pups who will play with him. He is protective of his hiding space and will growl at my male dogs if they get to close to his space. He does let my little yorkie girl sit with him. He distrusts people, especially men, we are hoping this will improve once he figures out he is safe.

He has not been tested with cats or children yet. He will run and catch a toy, but will not bring it back.

Teddy is very vocal, he barks, yodels, and can toss his beautiful head back and howl. We are working on house training, so far, he is a marker in the house, he is not housetrained but he will potty outside also. At this time he needs to be let outside often.

He is difficult to photo, he takes off when he sees a camera.

Meet Teddy, he is new to freedom

Teddy, previously named Presley, came to PMR from TN where he was rescued in a cruelty case. Many mill dogs were released and we were asked to help, along with other area rescues that stepped up.

Teddy is a large, 16 pound beautiful Pom. He is orange and white. His coloring makes him a "Parti Pom " I believe. Better pictures will be coming, he is hard right now to get as he is very afraid.

Teddy is healthy, but terrified at this point. He is very fearful. He is also very smart and has made some surprising gains in the 5 days he has been here. He uses the dogdoor, learned the stairs, follows the routine here. He is a barker when upset. He is also a yodeler and a chatterer and many other funny sounds. He is NOT pottytrained. He goes out the dog door to play, he may potty when outside but will still mark and potty inside at this point. Although I do think he is doing so less.

I do believe in time he will be the confident dog he was meant to be.
He has been good with the other dogs here with only an occassional "humping "seen. He is very dog comfortable..it is people he is afraid of.

When I have to pick him up he raises up on his hind legs and talks and then leaps into my arms and hangs on with his front legs...he is stiff and afraid but at least I can do this much.

He has not been good at all with grooming and we shall try that here next. He is beautiful and has a wonderful coat .

He is in temporary foster care but questions can be sent for now to me Eileen at eileen_mattoon@yahoo.com

He is fostered now in Upstate NY but will be moving at the end of March to Delaware and questions can then be sent to Enid at CelloRN@aol.com

Thanks so much,
Eileen and Enid and Teddy!!!
